On behalf of the World Armenian Diaspora, I extend my sincere condolences to Misar’s family, relatives, friends, and millions of admirers of his remarkable talent. His artistic legacy will live forever, and his memory will remain in the hearts of people across the globe,» said

Andranik Oganisyan.

The President of the World Armenian Diaspora stated that the organization will actively work to preserve Misar’s memory and promote his artistic heritage.

«As a tribute to this great master, the World Armenian Diaspora will support the establishment of Misar Museums in different countries around the world. One of the first cultural projects is expected to be a

museum in Kyiv

. The Ukrainian capital already shares a special connection with the artist’s work, as in 2023 Misar donated his world-famous painting

The Trinity

to the collection of the Museum of the History of Kyiv. This artistic gift became a symbol of cultural friendship between nations and an important contribution to the development of Ukrainian-Armenian humanitarian relations.

The future Misar Museums will not only preserve his works but will also serve as modern international cultural centers hosting exhibitions, art forums, academic conferences, creative meetings, and educational programs for young people. We want these institutions to become places of intercultural dialogue, bringing together artists, art historians, researchers, students, and everyone who appreciates genuine art.

Our greatest wish is for people throughout the world to experience the Divine world that Misar embodied in his paintings. We are committed to making his art accessible to millions so that its spiritual depth and beauty continue to inspire present and future generations.

We will make every effort to ensure that the Misar Museums become symbols of spiritual unity, peace, mutual understanding, and cultural dialogue among nations. Preserving his legacy is our responsibility to future generations,»

Oganisyan

emphasized.

Misar’s works are highly valued by collectors and art enthusiasts around the world. His paintings are held in private collections in France, the United States, Canada, Ukraine, Armenia, and many other countries. His artworks are regarded as prestigious among collectors of contemporary art, with some paintings valued at significant sums. Nevertheless, the true value of Misar’s legacy lies in its profound spiritual, cultural, and artistic significance.

Misar (Misar Velikyan) was a French artist of Armenian origin, born in 1957 in Yerevan, Armenia, in the Ararat Valley. He graduated from the Yerevan College of Fine Arts and later studied at the Yerevan Institute of Theatre and Fine Arts.

Misar achieved international recognition through exhibitions in France, Italy, Belgium, the United States, and numerous other countries. His paintings are represented in museums, galleries, and private collections worldwide. He also worked as a production designer on several artistic film projects.

A defining feature of Misar’s work was its spiritual dimension. His paintings are distinguished by their philosophical reflection on life, biblical themes, and a desire to express the beauty of the Divine through art. His works encouraged viewers to contemplate eternal values, goodness, love, and faith. For this reason, he was often referred to internationally as «the Artist of Divine Power.»

Misar also served as President of the International Orthodox Religious Mission «Charity» and the Palette Charitable Foundation. Beginning in 1995, he organized annual charitable initiatives supporting people with disabilities, children, and cultural figures. In recognition of his humanitarian work, he received commendations from Ukrainian state institutions.

Misar’s artistic legacy remains an important part of contemporary spiritual culture, and his works continue to attract the attention of collectors, art historians, and admirers of fine art worldwide.

Artist Misar passed away on July 9, 2026.
