‘The Immortalists’ by Chloe Benjamin. How would you live if you knew the date of your own death?

A mysterious fortune teller arrives in New York City. Rumors about her spread quickly and reach the Gold family. Little Daniel, Clara, Simon, and Varya decide to pay her a visit. The fortune teller’s prediction concerns the next decades, namely the date of death of each Gold.

Subsequently, the family’s paths diverge: Simon searches for love in San Francisco, Clara becomes an illusionist in Las Vegas, Daniel becomes a military doctor, and Varya devotes her life to science. But are their days really numbered and is the fortune teller’s prediction inevitable?

This book has become special to me because I read it in electronic format in the first days of the invasion and it really helped me… The life of each character is quite unique and full of different experiences.

Although the end of each part is sad, it makes you think about different topics… Religion, life, love, risks, career… But it gets more or less easier at the end, so…

So I give it 4/5 pancakes and put it on the shelf as a good book about four lives… So unique, so interesting.
